The Hudson Force 50 is a full keel pilothouse stay sail ketch, from the drawing board of William Garden. Introduced in 1973, they were built in Taiwan at a rate of twelve to fifteen per year until 1984 when the warehouse burned down. This is a go anywhere sailboat with a touch of the tradition. The teak work both above and below deck has been maintained and exudes a traditional wooden boat elegance that not too many fiberglass boats can accomplish.
This Hudson is very spacious and the interior layout is fairly unique when compared to other Force 50s. She comfortably sleeps 5 people, situated in the V berth, aft berth, and settee berth situated amidship. The Salon and Galley share an open layout, making it an ideal space to host friends and family. The Nav station is also fairly spacious with a dedicated seat, allowing one to look over full charts or simply sit at a work table separate from the crowd while underway.
Hudson Force builds are study sailboats made to travel any distance safely and comfortably. Though they aren't necessarily known for being fast hulls, there have been accounts of cruising speeds up to 10 knots while also moving through large seas gracefully.
